Born in Montreal in 1955. Upon graduation from university he came to Israel, joined the infantry and later the Education Corps, and served as a staff officer for the Paratroopers Brigade for three years. Teitelbaum became a member of the editorial board of Fantasia 2000, and began writing the nation’s first ever SF/F book review column, in The Jerusalem Post. Teitelbaum had a journalism career working for Newsview and the Jerusalem Post, while working as a science writer for the Weizmann Institute of Science. He moved with his family to Los Angeles in 1986, where he became Los Angeles Bureau Chief for film magazine Cinefantastique, a founding writer for the Los Angeles Jewish Journal, and a senior writer for the Jerusalem Report. Additionally, he held a job at the University of Southern California as a science writer and, later, for a subcontractor to the U.S. Department of Energy. Teitelbaum has published on SF/F-related and other themes in Al-HaMishmar, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, The Forward, Time-Digital, Wired, The Montreal Gazette, SF Eye, Midnight Graffiti, Foundation: The Review of Science Fiction, Premiere Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, the Encyclopedia of Science Fiction (2nd Ed. & Online Edition), and The Encyclopedia Judaica (2nd Ed.). He won Canada’s first Northern Lights Award in 1998, and three Brandeis University/ Jewish Press Association awards for excellence in news and cultural reportage. He lives in Southern California.
